C. Jason Smith, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of English at The City University of New York-LaGuardia. He holds the B.A. and M.A. from Texas A&M University-Commerce and the Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Arkansas. He has published and presented widely on issues of sex, gender, technology, and the body as represented in literature, film, and on the Internet. His first book, co-authored with Ximena Gallardo C., is titled Alien Woman: The Making of Lt. Ellen Ripley (Continuum International Publishing Group, 2004). He is currently working on an interdisciplinary book on the history of virtuality and embodiment titled eVolution: An Introduction to the Pleasures of the Virtual Body
